Wondering why TFC? Below, you will find several stories from TFC students that explain how their experiences at TFC have impacted their lives forever.

Major: Biology
Being a native of the Toccoa area, choosing Toccoa Falls College wasn’t a hard decision. I have always known about TFC, since both my parents attended here, and I didn’t have to pay for tuition because it was all covered by grants and scholarships, that’s always a plus!
I chose biology as my major because I have always had a love of science. I realized I wanted to be a doctor during my sophomore year in high school because I wanted to serve and help others. It brings about excitement, encouragement, and enjoyment of responsibility for me.
My high school science teacher, Mr. McGee, really influenced my decision to choose a major in the science field. Having him as a teacher instilled in me a love for science.
Here at TFC, I look up to Dr. Rick Thomas, not only as a professor, but as a whole person. He is an intelligent man and gets involved with students outside of just the classroom. He’s given me countless pieces of advice and guidance in life. He has an enthusiasm for people making a difference.
During my four years at TFC, I have had the opportunity to be a part of the men’s soccer team. I served as the captain of the team and made 2nd Team All-American in 2010. This was a different atmosphere from high school for me and the one thing that I treasure the most are the friendships I made with my fellow team mates. We were close like a family and shared many things with one another. I also was the president of the Pre-Med Club and mentored students at Stephens County Middle School two days a week for an hour.
Throughout my years at TFC, I was constantly reminded of the story of Hosea and how it really describes God’s grace and His love for us, even when we stray away from Him.

Major: Business Administration; Minor: Marketing
Coming from a Christian high school, Toccoa Falls College provided me with the same small environment that I enjoyed. The Lord confirmed TFC as the place for me during campus preview. I loved home way too much to leave it, but I honestly have to say that if it wasn’t for God, I would not be here. I didn’t know how I was going to do it, but God gave me strength and after four years, I graduated and can say that I love TFC.
The college has impacted me by challenging me in my spiritual walk. In my Bible courses, I learned things that I never thought about. The biblical core classes that I took here caused me to seek the word and have a deeper spiritual walk with Christ.
As a senior, I was blessed with the opportunity of being a Resident Assistant (RA) for Fant Hall. This forced me to get out of my comfort zone because it was my responsibility to get to know the ladies. It was a great opportunity to get to know those on my hall and to let them know that I was there for them even if we’re not great friends. I think it made a difference and it let them know that I was someone they could always count on.
Professor Nathan Clay has been a professor that has had a huge impact on my life here at TFC. He is understanding and has an interest in the students and helping the students. He knows when you need a little more time to do things such as assignments. He genuinely cares about you, the student, and how you do and understand than it just being about a grade.
My plans after graduation are to move back to Savannah and work in the marketing or hospitality industry. Growing up in Savannah, I have seen and experienced first-hand the tourism business there and would like to return and pursue a career in that direction.
Favorite Verse: Isaiah 41:13 – For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. This verse is just such a wonderful picture of a strong, loving Father who looks out for us and who is always there to lend a helping hand.

Every year a community fair is held in my hometown. Usually I don’t attend it, but my cousin invited me to go and so I decided to check it out. At this time, I had recently accepted Christ. At the community fair, I met some people from Toccoa Falls College who shared with me some information about TFC. That was the first time I had heard of TFC.
In searching for a college to attend, God opened my eyes to what He had in store for my future. I really felt the Lord leading me here to TFC and when I first stepped on campus, I thought to myself, I have to be here! That was it and now I’m here.
Here at TFC, I found unity and like the smallness of the college. I can build one on one relationships with my professors whereas most of the time, at large universities, a student can’t get to know the professor on a personal level. I came from a huge high school where I could talk with my teachers, but not in the same way I can talk with my professors here at TFC. When I talk with my professors, I know that they really care about me and what God is doing in my life.
